ACT SC-SC simplex fibre optic adapter Singlemode OS2

The ACT Fiber optic adapter SC-SC simplex ACT EA2003 is a single-mode OS2 adapter designed for reliable, low-loss connections between SC-terminated fiber optic cables. Housed in a blue sleeve to indicate single-mode usage, the adapter supports simplex SC to SC coupling and is supplied as a single unit for straightforward deployment in networking and telecommunications installations.

Advantages

The adapter provides low insertion loss and stable physical alignment for SC ferrules, delivering consistent optical performance. Its compact, single-unit design simplifies installation and replacement in patch panels, wall outlets, or inline couplings. Color coding helps ensure correct single-mode connections, and the ceramic alignment sleeve improves durability and repeatability of connections under routine use.

How to use

Align the SC connectors of the fiber cables with the adapter ports and push them in until they click into place, ensuring ferrules seat fully in the alignment sleeve. To disconnect, depress the SC connector latch and pull the connector straight out. Install the adapter into a compatible panel or flange if required, taking care to maintain clean connector end-faces by inspecting and, if necessary, cleaning with appropriate fiber-optic cleaning tools before making the connection.

Recommendations

Handle connectors by the boot and housing to avoid touching end-faces. Use a fiber optic microscope or inspection pen to verify cleanliness and perform end-face cleaning with lint-free wipes and approved cleaning fluid to minimize insertion loss. Store unused adapters and cables with protective dust caps to prevent contamination.
