Continuous LED lights (Nanlite, Godox, Elgato) are suited to video, streaming and product photography; flash units deliver short, powerful bursts for portraits.
Colour temperature & CRI
Bi-colour lights (2700K–6500K) let you switch flexibly between warm light and daylight; a CRI above 95 ensures accurate colour rendering for product and fashion shoots.
Output power
An 8 W kit is enough for a desk or light box; 150–720 W will light an entire studio. Match the output to your shooting area and the ambient light available.
Portability & form factor

For most studio work, we recommend a bi-colour light that is adjustable from 2700K (warm white tungsten light) to 6500K (cool white daylight). Many Nanlite and Godox models cover exactly this range, letting you imitate window light or create a warm portrait atmosphere without colour gels.
Are LED studio lights also suitable for video?
Yes — continuous LED panel and tube lights are designed specifically for video, streaming and product photography, as they provide stable, flicker-free light. The Godox SZ150R and the Nanlite Forza series are used professionally in both broadcast and e-commerce studios.
What is a photo light box and when should I use one?
A photo light box (e.g. Orangemonkie Foldio3 or Foldio360) is a portable enclosure with built-in LED lighting that illuminates small objects evenly. It is ideal for product, jewellery and catalogue photography, where a uniform white background is needed without a full studio set-up.
How many watts do I need for a YouTube or streaming set-up?
For a desk or talking-head shot, a single 8–20 W key light (Elgato Key Light or a compact Nanlite model) is enough. For larger backgrounds or two-person set-ups, we recommend a 60–150 W panel with a diffuser or softbox.
