KWB 318626 cold chisel steel 240 mm flat chisel

The KWB 318626 cold chisel is a 240 mm flat chisel made from CrV (chromium-vanadium) steel. It is designed for metalworking tasks such as cutting, shaping and removing small sections of metal, and for light demolition jobs like burying cables in plaster. The tool combines a hardened cutting edge with a robust shaft to withstand repeated hammer blows while maintaining edge geometry.

Advantages

The chisel's CrV steel construction offers high strength and wear resistance, ensuring a long service life under frequent use. Its flat tip provides precise control for straight cuts and morticing, while the 240 mm length gives good reach and leverage in confined spaces. The hardened edge maintains sharpness for consistent performance.

How to use

Secure the workpiece and position the flat chisel tip against the area to be cut or removed. Strike the blunt end of the chisel with a suitable hammer, applying controlled blows to achieve the desired cut or mortice. Keep the chisel tip angled appropriately for straight cuts and maintain firm control to avoid slipping. Inspect the edge regularly and regrind when necessary to restore cutting performance.

Recommendations

Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves. Do not use the chisel on hardened steel or for prying; avoid excessive hammering that might damage the tool. Store in a dry place to prevent corrosion and sharpen the edge with proper grinding techniques when worn.
