Netatmo OTH Room Thermostat — OpenTherm-compatible Programmable Thermostat

The Netatmo OTH — OpenTherm-compatible programmable thermostat is a room controller designed to manage boiler-based heating systems that support the OpenTherm protocol. It provides setpoint temperature control, scheduling capabilities and direct communication with compatible boilers to enable precise modulation of heating output. The device is suitable for installation in homes and small commercial spaces where OpenTherm-enabled boilers are used, offering a straightforward user interface and integration with existing heating equipment.

Advantages

The thermostat communicates using the OpenTherm standard to allow continuous modulation of boiler power rather than simple on/off cycling, improving temperature stability and system efficiency. Programmable scheduling lets users define different setpoints for day and night periods, helping to manage energy consumption. The unit’s compact design and clear controls simplify wall mounting and daily operation, while compatibility with common heating installations reduces the need for additional interface modules.

Suitable for

• Homes with OpenTherm-compatible boilers
• Small offices and commercial rooms with centralized boiler heating
• Renovation projects replacing mechanical or legacy thermostats
• Installations requiring programmable temperature scheduling

Key specifications

• Protocol compatibility: OpenTherm for boiler modulation and communication
• Control type: room temperature setpoint control with programmable schedules
• User interface: wall-mounted thermostat with display and control buttons
• Power and connections: designed for wired connection to compatible heating systems
• Intended environment: indoor use in residential and small commercial spaces

How to use

Mount the thermostat on an interior wall away from direct sunlight, drafts and local heat sources to ensure accurate room temperature sensing. Connect the device to the boiler following the OpenTherm wiring instructions provided by the boiler manufacturer and Netatmo’s installation guide. Program required daily and weekly setpoints using the thermostat controls to define comfort and setback periods. Verify boiler response after setup by changing the setpoint and observing the boiler modulation or heat output.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, confirm that your boiler supports OpenTherm and that wiring meets the boiler manufacturer’s requirements. Place the thermostat in a representative location of the main living area to avoid misleading readings. Use scheduled setpoints to reduce energy use during unoccupied periods and maintain a stable setpoint range to improve efficiency and comfort.
