Upgrade to ultra-high-speed 25GbE with ease!
While 10GbE is a solid base for high-speed network transmission, the ultra-high-speed 25GbE provides comparative cost advantages and compatibility in SMB server rooms to satisfy data computing applications.

High switching capacity of 820Gbps for backbone networks
The QSW-M5216-1T has sixteen 25GbE SFP28 fiber ports and offers backbone switching capacity of 820Gbps, guaranteeing the full potential of each port. The QSW-M5216-1T can serve as the core switch uplinking to 25G/100G Servers and NAS in server rooms or connecting to 25G/10G edge fiber switches.

Flexible deployment with multiple 25GbE and 10GbE ports
Along with sixteen 25GbE SFP28 fiber ports, the QSW-M5216-1T is has one 10GBASE-T port for enabling hybrid high-speed networks. Its 25GbE SFP28 interfaces are backward compatible with 10GbE SFP+/1GbE SFP; and 10GbE RJ45 is compatible with NBASE-T technologies to support five speeds (10G / 5G / 2.5G / 1G / 100M).

Pair with a NAS and 100GbE network expansion card for high-performance, low-latency computing
By using QSFP28 to (4) SFP28 cables, you can easily connect the four 25GbE ports on the QSW-M5216-1T to a NAS with a QXG-100G2SF-E810 dual-port 100GbE network expansion card. You can also use two QSFP28 to (4) SFP28 cables to connect the 100GbE port on the QXG-100G2SF-E810 to four 25GbE ports on the switch. Set a group of QSFP28 to (4) SFP28 connection as the main route and the other as a backup route.

QSS: Intuitive Network Management Software
The QNAP Switch System (QSS) features an easy-to-use Web GUI with value-added functions to simplify network set up and management.

QSS: Human-centered settings guide
QSS provides an overview dashboard, port management and setting guide to help control Layer 2 networks.

Optimize Network Performance with bandwidth and packet control
The QSW-M5216-1T provides bandwidth and packet control functions (such as LACP, VLAN, QoS, and IGMP Snooping) to boost network performance through IP grouping and bandwidth management.

Powerful security and system functions
The QSW-M5216-1T has powerful security and system functions (including ACL, LLDP, RSTP and Flow Control) to help enhance network reliability with access controls, troubleshooting, loop prevention and avoiding packet loss.

Near-silent and energy saving
With its smart cooling system, the QSW-M5216-1T ensures high-speed network performance without distracting background noise. IEEE 802.3az (EEE) support also reduces power consumption without sacrificing performance or functionality. By dynamically detecting and adjusting for link speeds and activities, the QSW-M5216-1T provides energy savings of up to 50% to minimize operational costs.

How to use

Install the QSW-M5216-1T in a rack or suitable shelf location and connect fiber transceivers or DACs to the SFP28 ports for 25GbE links. Use the 10GBASE-T RJ45 port for direct connection to compatible servers, switches or workstations with NBASE-T-capable NICs. Access the QSS web GUI via the management IP to run the initial setup, configure VLANs, LACP link aggregation, QoS and other Layer 2 functions, and monitor port status and traffic. For high-performance NAS connectivity, pair the switch with a dual-port 100GbE NIC and QSFP28-to-4×SFP28 cables to aggregate and route 25GbE links; designate primary and backup routes as needed.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, use compatible SFP28 transceivers and quality fiber cabling, enable VLANs and LACP for aggregated throughput where appropriate, and keep QSS firmware up to date. Consider pairing the switch with a 100GbE-capable NAS expansion card when large-scale high-throughput storage or low-latency computing is required.
