1U Rack Shelf with Variable Depth apraNET apranet VARIplain 19 inch Rack 316-036-99 (Variable Depth)

apraNET apranet VARIplain 19" Rack 1U variable depth shelf is a rack-mounted shelf designed for installation in 19-inch server cabinets and telecom racks. The 1U shelf offers adjustable depth to fit a variety of equipment sizes and mounting positions, allowing placement of small servers, network appliances, power supplies or cable management elements. Its metal construction provides a stable horizontal surface inside the cabinet while preserving access to front and rear mounting points.

Advantages

The variable depth mechanism enables flexible positioning to match devices with different chassis depths without the need for multiple fixed shelves. A 1U form factor preserves valuable rack space while providing a load-bearing platform for non-rack-mountable equipment. The shelf is compatible with standard 19" mounting rails and supports straightforward installation within server rooms, data centers and telecom closets. The exposed surface allows easy routing of cables and placement of accessories while maintaining ventilation around mounted components.

How to use

Install the shelf into the desired 1U position on the front mounting rail of a 19" cabinet, aligning the adjustable depth members to the required rear mounting points. Secure the shelf to the rails using appropriate fasteners for the cabinet (cage nuts, screws or rail-specific hardware). Place the equipment or accessories onto the shelf and verify that weight is evenly distributed. Route cables through the cabinet openings and secure them to cable management points to prevent strain on connectors and to maintain airflow. Periodically inspect fasteners and the shelf surface to ensure stability.

Recommendations

Use the adjustable depth feature to position equipment for optimal airflow and connector access. Confirm load capacity of the rack shelf relative to mounted devices and avoid exceeding rated loads. For heavy or vibration-sensitive equipment, consider additional support or dedicated rack-mount brackets.
