ACT Fibre Optic SC-SC Simplex Adapter Multimode OM1/OM2

The ACT Fiber optic SC-SC simplex adapter multimode OM1/OM2 is a compact inline coupling designed to align and join two SC multimode fiber connectors. Its white housing and simplex SC interface provide a space-efficient connection point for multimode OM1 and OM2 fibers, enabling signal transfer with low insertion loss and stable optical performance. Supplied as a single piece, the adapter is suitable for patch panel, wallplate or chassis installations where a reliable SC-to-SC connection is required.

Advantages

This SC-SC simplex adapter offers precise fiber alignment and consistent optical contact between SC multimode connectors, reducing back-reflection and maintaining signal integrity. The compact white housing supports neat cable routing and easy identification in installations. Being compatible with OM1 and OM2 multimode fiber types, the adapter provides flexibility for legacy and current multimode networks while minimizing insertion loss for short- to medium-range links.

Suitable for

• Patch panels and fiber distribution frames
• Wall plates and surface-mount installations
• Multimode OM1/OM2 network links in buildings and campuses
• Data center and telecom closet fiber interconnects

Key specifications

• Connector type: SC female to SC female (simplex)
• Fiber type compatibility: Multimode OM1 and OM2
• Color: White housing
• Package quantity: 1 piece per pack
• Typical performance: low insertion loss and low reflectance for multimode connections
• Form factor: Inline/simplex adapter for panel or bulkhead mounting

How to use

Insert the SC multimode connector of the incoming fiber into one side of the adapter until it clicks into place, then insert the SC connector of the outgoing fiber into the opposite side. Ensure connectors are clean and free of dust before mating; use appropriate fiber cleaning tools to remove contaminants. Mount the adapter into a compatible panel, wall plate or flange if required, taking care to align the adapter with the panel aperture. After connection, verify continuity and optical power levels with suitable test equipment to confirm acceptable insertion loss.

Recommendations

Use the adapter with cleaned SC multimode connectors and avoid excessive bending or stress on connected fibers. For best results in multimode OM1/OM2 links, perform end-to-end loss measurements after installation and keep spare dust caps on unused ends to prevent contamination.
