Bahco PX-L2 Lopping Shears

The Bahco PX-L2 pruning shears feature a bypass cutting system designed for clean, precise cuts on live plants. Lightweight and balanced at approximately 331 g, these shears combine a stainless steel blade with ergonomically shaped black-and-red handles to provide comfortable control during extended pruning tasks. The tool is intended for gardeners who require accurate trimming of stems, shoots and small branches while maintaining blade sharpness and corrosion resistance.

Advantages

The bypass cutting mechanism ensures a smooth scissor-like action that preserves plant tissue and promotes healthy healing. The stainless steel blade offers durable sharpness and improved resistance to rust under normal garden conditions. At a low overall weight, the shears reduce user fatigue and improve maneuverability for detailed trimming. The handle shape and textured surface enhance grip security and control, helping to make repetitive pruning more precise.

Suitable for

• Pruning live shoots, stems and flowering branches
• Trim maintenance in home gardens and allotments
• Precision shaping of shrubs and perennials
• Horticulture tasks requiring clean cuts to minimize plant damage

Key specifications

• Cutting system: bypass (scissor action) for clean cuts on live tissue
• Blade material: stainless steel for corrosion resistance and edge retention
• Weight: approximately 331 g for comfortable handling
• Handle: ergonomic black-and-red grip designed for control and reduced slippage

How to use

Open the shears and place the stem between the blades close to the base of the branch you intend to remove. Make a single clean cut by closing the handles with steady pressure, allowing the bypass blades to glide past each other for a precise cut. For thicker branches near the maximum capacity of the tool, position the cut incrementally by removing material in stages rather than forcing a single cut. After use, wipe the blades clean of sap and debris and close the locking mechanism for safe storage.

Recommendations

Regularly clean and lightly oil the pivot and blade surfaces to maintain cutting performance and reduce corrosion. Sharpen the blade when cuts begin to tear rather than slice, and avoid cutting hardened, woody material beyond the tool’s intended capacity to preserve blade edge and alignment.
