Barox RY-804GBTME managed switch

The Barox RY-804GBTME is a managed L2/L3 Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for small and medium enterprise networks and industrial applications where stable wired connectivity and flexible port options are required. Equipped with eight Gigabit RJ-45 ports and four SFP slots, the switch supports 10/100/1000 Mbps on copper ports and fiber uplinks via SFP modules. A USB 2.0 port and a console port provide out-of-band management and configuration capability. The device operates on a DC input range of 12–50 V and offers a switching capacity of 24 Gbit/s with an 8000-entry MAC address table, implementing a wide set of IEEE networking standards for interoperability and traffic control.

Advantages

The managed architecture provides L2 and basic L3 features for VLANs, link aggregation and traffic prioritization while maintaining a compact footprint and 0.7 kg weight. Four SFP slots enable flexible fiber uplinks or long-distance connections in mixed copper/fiber installations. The broad IEEE standard support ensures compatibility with existing network equipment and allows for features such as flow control, rapid spanning tree, port-based authentication, and Q-in-Q tagging. The DC power input range increases deployment options in environments with varying power sources.

Suitable for

• Small and medium business local area networks requiring managed switching and VLAN segmentation
• Edge aggregation and uplink to core switches via SFP fiber modules
• Industrial or telecom sites where DC power ranges and compact form factors are needed
• Environments requiring QoS, link aggregation and RSTP for resilient topologies

How to use

Install the Barox RY-804GBTME on a stable surface or mount it according to the manufacturer's mounting options. Insert compatible SFP transceivers into the SFP slots for fiber connections, and use shielded or unshielded Cat5e/Cat6 cables for Gigabit RJ-45 ports. Connect the DC power source within the 12–50 V range and verify LED indications for link and activity. Access the management interface through the console port for initial configuration or via the supported network management methods to create VLANs, configure QoS policies, enable link aggregation and set security options such as 802.1X. Use the USB 2.0 port for firmware updates or configuration backup where supported by the device firmware.

Recommendations

Place the switch in a well-ventilated area and ensure the DC supply is stable and compatible with the required voltage range. Use SFP modules and Ethernet cables rated for the required distance and speed. Keep firmware updated and secure management access with strong credentials and, where available, access control lists or management VLANs to reduce exposure. For redundancy, combine link aggregation with spanning tree features and monitor switch performance via SNMP or the supported management interface.
