CBO SFA23BK1 Optical Attenuator Singlemode 1 dB

CBO SFA23BK1 Singlemode 1 dB is an inline optical fiber attenuator designed for singlemode fiber links where a precise 1 dB reduction of optical power is required. The attenuator is compact and intended for insertion in patch panels, fiber jumpers, or inline connectors to prevent receiver saturation and to balance power across network segments. It is compatible with standard singlemode connectors and provides a fixed, reliable attenuation level without the need for adjustment.

Advantages

The inline design offers space-efficient installation in racks and enclosures while maintaining consistent attenuation. As a fixed 1 dB attenuator, it eliminates the variability of adjustable units and reduces the risk of misconfiguration during installation or maintenance. The device is suited for both temporary testing and permanent deployment, and its simple construction minimizes insertion loss variability and return loss impact when used as specified.

Suitable for

• Balancing optical power between transmitters and receivers in singlemode networks
• Preventing receiver overload in fiber-optic links
• Field testing, measurements and temporary insertion during maintenance
• Integration into patch panels, fiber jumpers and inline connector runs

Key specifications

• Fiber type: singlemode
• Attenuation: fixed 1 dB
• Form factor: inline attenuator suitable for patch panels and jumper insertion
• Connector compatibility: typical singlemode connector interfaces
• Application: suitable for testing, maintenance and permanent network deployments

How to use

Insert the attenuator inline between two compatible singlemode connectors, ensuring clean connector end faces before mating to maintain low loss and prevent contamination. Verify connector type compatibility and secure connections within patch panels or on fiber jumpers. For testing, use the attenuator to create a controlled 1 dB reduction and measure system response. When deployed permanently, mount or route the fiber carefully to avoid sharp bends and mechanical stress on the attenuator.

Recommendations

Clean connectors before installation and handle the attenuator with standard ESD precautions. Confirm that a fixed 1 dB attenuation meets system requirements—use additional or different values if greater attenuation is needed—and avoid exposing the device to excessive mechanical strain or harsh environmental conditions.
