Bosch HSS Step Drill Bit 2608597521

Bosch HSS step drill bit with 12 steps provides a versatile solution for drilling holes of multiple diameters in thin metals and other sheet materials. The single-piece HSS construction and overall length of 93.5 mm deliver reliable machining performance and reduced risk of chipping or deformation when creating holes ranging from 6 mm to 39 mm.

Advantages

The step drill bit offers a wide range of hole sizes in one tool, eliminating the need to change bits frequently. High-speed steel (HSS) construction ensures durability and wear resistance for repetitive use. The stepped design produces clean, round holes with minimal burr formation and helps control hole enlargement progressively for accurate results.

Suitable for

• Drilling holes in thin sheet metal, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals
• Creating cable and pipe entry holes in panels and enclosures
• Quickly enlarging existing holes in workshop and light maintenance tasks
• DIY projects requiring multiple hole diameters without changing tools

How to use

Secure the step drill bit in a suitable drill chuck and set the drill to an appropriate speed for HSS and the material being drilled (lower speeds for harder metals). Mark the hole position on the workpiece, start drilling with moderate pressure and allow each step to cut fully before advancing to the next diameter. Withdraw periodically to clear chips and reduce heat build-up, and use cutting fluid when drilling tougher metals.

Recommendations

For best results, clamp thin sheet materials securely to prevent vibration, use cutting lubricant on ferrous metals, and avoid excessive feed pressure to prolong tool life. Choose drill speeds suitable for the material and keep the bit cool by intermittent drilling or lubricant application.
