Datalogic GFS4520-BKK1-RED 2D USB Black Fixed Barcode Reader

The Datalogic GFS4520-BKK1-RED is a fixed 2D barcode reader designed for compact integration in kiosks, machines and other enclosures. This USB-connected module reads 1D and 2D codes including QR and Data Matrix, provides durable protection with an IP54 rating, and offers reliable performance for continuous scanning tasks. The lightweight design and multiple fixing points simplify installation inside housings; a housing-free version is also available for custom applications.

Advantages

The GFS4520-BKK1-RED delivers fast decoding using advanced megapixel optics and dedicated illumination (red), together with high motion tolerance for reading moving or handheld barcodes. How to use

Install the module into the chosen enclosure using the available fixing points or use the housing-free variant for custom mounting. Connect the device to a host system via the micro-USB connector; ensure the locking clip is engaged for a secure connection. Place barcodes within the module’s field of view and allow the reader’s optics and decoder to process the image. For variants with RS-232, connect the integrated cable to the host and configure any programmable I/O signals as required by the application.

Recommendations

Position the reader to minimise glare and direct sunlight on the output window to preserve read reliability; clean the window periodically and verify cable connections. For mobile-phone barcodes, ask users to increase screen brightness and keep the display steady during scanning.
