Dell 7TCGM Laptop Lock, Key Cable Security for Notebooks, Key Lock Cable

The Dell 7TCGM keyed security cable is a physical anti-theft solution for notebooks and other portable devices with a compatible security slot. The product uses a keyed lock mechanism combined with a steel cable to provide a simple, visible deterrent against opportunistic theft in offices, schools, libraries and other public spaces. The design is intended for everyday use where quick installation and reliable mechanical locking are required without altering the device.

Advantages

The keyed lock mechanism delivers a straightforward way to secure a laptop without relying on software or power. The attached steel cable allows flexible routing around fixed objects and anchors while maintaining tension and resistance to casual tampering. Installation is quick and reversible, allowing the device to remain portable when the lock is removed. The lock is compatible with standard security slots commonly found on notebooks and portable equipment, offering a practical layer of physical protection.

Suitable for

• Securing laptops and notebooks in offices and coworking spaces
• Protecting devices in classrooms, libraries and study areas
• Anchoring portable equipment in reception areas and public displays
• Temporary protection for devices during travel or events

Key specifications

• Lock type: keyed mechanical lock
• Cable material: braided steel with protective coating
• Cable length: suitable for anchoring to fixed objects (typical laptop lock length)
• Compatibility: devices with a standard security slot
• Finish: corrosion-resistant components for regular indoor use

How to use

Insert the lock head into the device's security slot and turn the key to engage the locking mechanism. Route the steel cable around a secure, immovable object such as a desk leg or fixed anchor point, then secure the cable end to the lock head. Keep the keys in a safe place separate from the secured device. To remove the lock, insert the key and turn to release the mechanism, then withdraw the lock head from the slot.

Recommendations

Position the anchor point where the cable cannot be easily lifted or slipped off and check the lock and cable periodically for signs of wear. Use this keyed security cable as part of a broader device protection strategy that includes physical, administrative and software-level measures.
