DeWALT DCG405FNT 18V Cordless Angle Grinder

The DeWalt DCG405FNT Cordless 18V angle grinder is a compact power tool designed to deliver cutting, grinding and polishing performance without the constraints of a power cable. This model uses an 18V battery platform and a brushless motor to provide efficient power delivery and improved runtime. Its flathead gear case allows better access in confined spaces, while the lightweight construction and ergonomic body make it suitable for extended use on job sites and home projects.

Advantages

The brushless motor increases efficiency and reduces maintenance compared with brushed alternatives, resulting in longer runtime from the same battery capacity. The flathead gear case improves access to tight areas and enhances manoeuvrability when working close to surfaces. A compact and lightweight design lowers user fatigue and simplifies handling during precision tasks. Variable speed control and compatibility with common cutting and grinding discs provide flexible operation across different materials and applications.

Suitable for

• Cutting metal, rebar and sheet materials
• Grinding welds, edges and concrete patch work
• Polishing metal and finishing surfaces
• On-site maintenance, renovation and fabrication tasks

Key specifications

• Power system: 18V cordless (battery-powered)
• Motor type: Brushless motor for higher efficiency
• Design: Flathead gear case for improved access in tight spaces
• Application types: Cutting, grinding and polishing
• Weight and ergonomics: Lightweight design for reduced fatigue
• Disc compatibility: Standard angle grinder cutting and grinding discs
• Speed control: Variable speed for material-specific operation

How to use

Fit an appropriate cutting or grinding disc compatible with the tool's disc size, ensuring the guard and accessory are correctly positioned and tightened. Install a charged 18V battery according to the manufacturer's instructions and verify the tool's safety features such as switch lock and guard. Select the suitable speed or power setting for the material and start the tool with a steady grip, maintaining firm control and correct disc angle relative to the workpiece. Allow the tool to reach operating speed before contacting the material and use smooth, controlled passes rather than forcing the disc through the work.

Recommendations

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection, hearing protection and gloves when operating the angle grinder. Use the correct disc for the task and material, inspect discs for damage before use, and ensure the guard is in place. For battery care, follow charging and storage guidance to preserve battery life and performance. When working in confined areas, pay attention to clearance and secure the workpiece to avoid sudden movement.
