Gardena 8718-48 Axe Tool

The Gardena 8718-48 axe is a single hatchet designed for general cutting and chopping tasks in garden and outdoor settings. It features a 600 mm fiberglass handle that provides shock absorption and a balanced feel. The axe head weighs 1.2 kg while the total weight is 1.6 kg, giving the tool sufficient mass for efficient cutting without excessive fatigue. The head is fixed to the handle for secure use and the design focuses on durability and reliable performance for recurring outdoor tasks.

Advantages

The fiberglass handle reduces vibration transfer to the user and resists weathering better than untreated wood, increasing service life. With a head weight of 1.2 kg and a total length of 600 mm, the tool delivers effective striking power while remaining manageable for one-handed or two-handed use depending on the task. The construction is intended for routine garden maintenance and outdoor chopping tasks, offering a consistent balance of weight and control.

Suitable for

• Chopping small to medium logs for firewood
• Clearing branches and pruning waste
• Splitting small billets and kindling preparation
• General campsite and outdoor woodwork

Key specifications

• Overall length: 600 mm
• Total weight: 1.6 kg
• Head weight: 1.2 kg
• Handle material: fiberglass
• Tool type: single hatchet / axe

How to use

Grip the fiberglass handle with both hands for heavier swings or one hand closer to the head for controlled cutting. Position the axe head on the targeted wood and swing with steady force, allowing the 1.2 kg head to deliver the cutting energy. Ensure the chopping surface is stable and clear of obstacles. After each use, inspect the head and handle for damage and store the axe in a dry place to prevent corrosion and handle degradation.

Recommendations

For safe operation, always wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection. Keep the cutting edge sharp for efficient performance and reduced splitting force. Do not use the axe on metal, stone, or other materials for which it is not intended. Regularly check the secure fit between head and handle and tighten or replace components if any looseness is detected.
