Honeywell 1990IXR-3-R Handheld Barcode Reader

The Honeywell Granit 1990iXR (1990IXR-3-R) is an ultra-rugged handheld barcode reader designed for high-volume industrial and warehouse environments. It supports both 1D and 2D barcodes and combines FlexRange scanning capability with a robust, dust- and water-resistant enclosure to maintain uptime and reduce total cost of ownership. The scanner reads from contact up to extended ranges, enabling fast capture of damaged or low-quality codes as well as long-range rack labels.

Advantages

Built to meet demanding conditions, the Granit 1990iXR offers best-in-class drop and tumble specifications and IP67 dust and moisture sealing, ensuring continued operation after impacts and exposure to harsh environments. FlexRange technology provides no-compromise near-field scanning while extending reach to read UPC codes up to 1.5 m (5 ft) and 100 mil labels at up to 10 m (33 ft). The device supports both 1D and 2D symbologies and delivers premium decoding performance on damaged or low-quality labels, helping prevent scanning bottlenecks in distribution and manufacturing workflows.

Suitable for

• High-throughput warehouse and distribution center scanning
• Rugged industrial manufacturing environments
• Loading dock and logistics operations
• Inventory management and top-rack scanning

How to use

Connect the Granit 1990iXR to your host system using the appropriate wired interface (USB or RS-232). Power the device via the host or DC power as required. Aim the scanner at the barcode, maintaining an appropriate distance for the target label size and type: use close range for small 1D/2D codes and increase distance for larger rack or shelf labels to take advantage of FlexRange. Pull the trigger to capture the code; the imager will decode even damaged or low-quality labels and transmit the data to the connected system.

Recommendations

For consistent performance in warehouse and industrial settings, keep the scanner lenses free of heavy debris and verify cable connections regularly. Select the correct interface and mount or holster the device when not in use to reduce accidental drops. Use FlexRange scanning to match distance to label size and maintain optimal throughput.
