Hypertec 128205-HY Serial Cable Green 1.8 m DB9

The Serial Cable Hypertec 128205-HY Green 1.8 m DB9 is a 1.8-metre serial communication cable with a DB9 connector designed for equipment requiring RS-232 or similar serial interfaces. The cable’s coloured jacket makes cable identification easier in multi-cable environments while the standard DB9 connector provides broad compatibility with legacy computers, networking equipment, industrial controllers and peripherals. The construction balances flexibility and durability to support routine data connections in office, laboratory and industrial settings.

Advantages

This 1.8 m DB9 serial cable offers reliable data transfer for serial devices and straightforward mechanical connection using industry-standard DB9 connectors. The green outer jacket facilitates visual identification and cable management. The cable length is long enough for typical workstation and rack-to-equipment runs without excess slack, and the build quality is intended to resist everyday wear from insertion and movement.

How to use

Connect the DB9 plugs to the corresponding serial ports on each device, ensuring correct gender orientation (male to female) and secure seating of the connector screws if present. Configure the serial port parameters on both connected devices (baud rate, parity, data bits and stop bits) to match for proper communication. Avoid tight bends near the connector ends and route the cable to minimise interference from high-voltage power lines and radio-frequency sources.

Recommendations

For stable operation, verify serial port settings and test communication with simple terminal software before deploying in production. Use the green jacket to mark dedicated serial links and avoid coiling the cable tightly or subjecting it to repeated sharp bends to prolong service life.
