IDC Cable Connector Goobay 79577 Grey Red

This Goobay 79577 wire connector with IDC (insulation displacement contact) technology provides a compact, toolless solution for joining, extending, repairing or rerouting Cat6 and Cat6A data/LAN cables. The connector eliminates the need for bulky junction boxes by allowing an eight-wire connection inside a fully shielded die-cast zinc housing with strain relief on both sides. Its small footprint makes it suitable for installation in cable ducts and confined spaces.

Advantages

The IDC design enables tool-free assembly while maintaining reliable electrical contact for eight-wire Cat6/Cat6A cables. The die-cast zinc, fully shielded housing offers mechanical protection and reduces electromagnetic interference. Built-in strain relief on both sides secures the cable and reduces stress on the connection. The compact dimensions allow for space-saving installation in ducts and tight enclosures.

Suitable for (tasks / use cases)

• Joining two Cat6 or Cat6A LAN cables without a junction box
• Extending existing Ethernet runs in cable ducts or tight spaces
• Repairing damaged Cat6/Cat6A cable sections
• Rerouting network cabling where a compact connector is required

How to use

Prepare both cable ends by stripping the outer sheath according to the cable manufacturer’s instructions to expose the eight wires. Align the wires with the IDC slots following the standard wiring order for the Ethernet run. Insert the cable wires fully into the IDC contacts and close the connector according to the product’s assembly procedure to establish a secure, gas-tight contact. Ensure the housing is seated and the built-in strain relief grips the cable to prevent movement after installation.

Recommendations

Use this connector where a compact, toolless, and shielded connection is required for Cat6/Cat6A cabling. For best performance, follow standard wiring color codes and ensure outer shields and drain wires (if present) are properly terminated to maintain overall shielding continuity.
