Knipex 74 05 180 Side Cutters

The Knipex 74 05 180 diagonal pliers are designed for heavy-duty, continuous use. Made from forged chrome vanadium steel and oil-hardened, these 180 mm pliers provide reliable durability and a comfortable grip with plastic handles. Precision cutting edges are induction hardened to approximately 64 HRC, enabling clean cuts of various wires, including piano wire, while an optimized cutting edge angle and transmission ratio deliver high cutting performance with minimal effort.

Advantages

Induction-hardened cutting edges (approx. 64 HRC) ensure long-lasting sharpness and allow cutting of hard wires such as piano wire. The combination of an optimized cutting edge angle and transmission ratio reduces the effort required for cutting. Forged chrome vanadium steel construction with oil hardening provides robustness for very tough, continuous use, and plastic handles offer ergonomic handling during prolonged tasks.

Suitable for

• Cutting soft and hard wires, including piano wire
• Electrical and electronic wiring tasks
• Maintenance and repair work demanding repeated cutting
• Professional trade and DIY applications requiring durable cutting pliers

How to use

Position the wire as close as possible to the cutting edges before applying steady pressure to the handles. Use the pliers for straight, decisive cuts; avoid twisting the tool while cutting. After use, clean any debris from the cutting edges and store the pliers in a dry place to prevent corrosion. For safety, wear appropriate eye protection when cutting springy or high-tension wires.

Recommendations

Do not use the pliers to cut hardened steel beyond the specified limits or for prying; misuse may damage the cutting edges. Regularly inspect and, if necessary, lightly oil the pivot joint to maintain smooth operation.
