KTI Networks KFS-0540 Network Switch

The KTI Networks KFS-0540 is a compact unmanaged network switch with five 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 copper ports, designed for small to medium-sized Ethernet and Fast Ethernet networks. It supports full-duplex operation, Auto-Negotiation for speed and duplex settings, and an auto MDI/MDI-X crossover function that removes the need for specific crossover cables. The device accepts a wide DC input voltage range and offers two power input types, with mounting options for DIN-rail or panel installations and industrial-grade emission and immunity performance.

Advantages

The switch auto-configures link speed and duplex using IEEE Auto-Negotiation and automatically detects cable type with Auto MDI/MDI-X, simplifying installation. It supports IEEE 802.3x flow control in full-duplex and back-pressure flow control in half-duplex to help manage traffic. With a MAC address table capacity suitable for small/medium networks and robust operating temperature range plus flexible mounting and power input options, the unit is adaptable to various field deployments.

Suitable for

• Small office Ethernet networks
• Industrial or temperature-critical network segments
• Network expansion for CCTV or access control systems
• DIN-rail or panel-mounted installations in equipment racks

Key specifications

• 5 × 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 copper ports
• Auto-Negotiation for speed and duplex
• Auto MDI/MDI-X crossover
• Supports IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3x standards
• Flow control: IEEE 802.3x (full-duplex) and back-pressure (half-duplex)
• MAC address table capacity up to 2000 entries
• Wide DC input voltage range with two power input types
• DIN-rail and panel mounting support
• Industrial-rated emission and immunity performance

How to use

Mount the switch on a DIN-rail or panel as required, connect the DC power using the provided power jack or alternate power input, and plug Ethernet devices into the RJ-45 ports. The switch will automatically negotiate link speed and duplex and adjust for cable type via Auto MDI/MDI-X. No configuration is required for basic connectivity; monitoring and management are handled externally if needed.

Recommendations

Install the unit in a ventilated enclosure away from direct heat sources and connect to a stable DC power supply within the supported voltage range. For reliable performance in industrial environments, use shielded Ethernet cables where appropriate and secure the switch using the DIN-rail or panel mounting points.
