Lindy 3m Null Modem Cable Serial Cable White 9-pin D-Sub

The Lindy 3m Null modem cable 31577 is a 3-metre serial cable with 9-pin D-sub connectors wired for null modem communication. It enables direct RS-232 serial data exchange between two devices without the need for a modem or intermediate adapter. The white jacket and flexible length make it suitable for desktop, industrial bench, or lab environments where reliable point-to-point serial links are required.

Advantages

This null modem cable provides a ready-made cross-over of the necessary transmit, receive and control lines to establish a direct serial connection. The 9-pin D-sub connectors ensure compatibility with equipment that uses standard DB9 serial ports. The 3 m length offers flexibility in device placement while maintaining signal integrity for typical serial communication speeds. The cable's construction and connector fit make installation straightforward and maintenance minimal.

Suitable for

• Connecting two computers or terminals directly for serial communication
• Linking serial instruments, measurement devices and test equipment
• Programming or configuring network hardware, routers and switches with DB9 console ports
• Legacy POS systems, industrial controllers and serial peripherals

Key specifications

• Cable type: null modem (crossed) serial cable
• Connector: 9-pin D-sub (DB9) male to 9-pin D-sub (DB9) male/female as appropriate for null modem wiring
• Length: 3 metres
• Color: white
• Signal standard: RS-232 compatible wiring for TX, RX and control lines

How to use

Connect each DB9 connector to the serial port of the devices to be linked, ensuring firm seating of the screws to avoid intermittent contact. No additional adapters are required when both devices support DB9 serial ports and expect a null modem connection. Configure serial parameters (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits, flow control) on both devices to match each other before starting data transfer. If necessary, check device manuals for specific pinout expectations and adjust settings accordingly.

Recommendations

Use the Lindy 3m null modem cable in environments free from excessive electromagnetic interference for best performance. Avoid sharp bends and kinks in the cable; secure it with cable ties or clips to prevent strain on connectors. For long-term installations in harsh environments, verify connector retention and inspect the cable periodically for wear.
