Managed Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet Switch ROLINE 21.13.1137

The ROLINE 21.13.1137 is a managed L2 Gigabit Ethernet switch with eight Gigabit RJ-45 ports and Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability. Designed for small to medium network environments, this black metal switch supports PoE delivery across a voltage range of 12–30 V and implements Layer 2 switching features for efficient traffic control. Compliance with widely used networking standards ensures interoperability with existing infrastructure and predictable performance for connected devices.

Advantages

This managed Gigabit Ethernet switch provides centralized traffic management and VLAN support, enabling segmentation and improved security at Layer 2. PoE support simplifies deployment of powered devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones by supplying power and data over the same cable. The eight Gigabit RJ-45 ports deliver high-speed data transfer and backward compatibility with 10/100 Mbps devices, while adherence to IEEE networking standards ensures stable operation and broad compatibility.

Suitable for

• Small office or branch networks requiring centralized switch management
• Powering IP cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones over Ethernet
• Network segmentation with VLANs for improved traffic control and security
• Environments needing Gigabit connectivity for file sharing and streaming

How to use

Install the switch on a flat or rack-mounted surface with adequate ventilation and connect the device to a stable AC power source or PoE power supply that meets the required voltage range. Connect network devices to the RJ-45 ports using Cat5e or Cat6 cables to achieve Gigabit speeds. Access the switch management interface via its IP address to configure VLANs, QoS, port settings and PoE allocation. Monitor link status and traffic statistics through the management console to verify correct operation and optimize performance.

Recommendations

Use shielded or unshielded twisted-pair cables of appropriate category (Cat5e/Cat6) for reliable Gigabit links, and plan PoE power budget according to the total draw of connected devices. When deploying IP cameras or access points, assign separate VLANs for video and wireless traffic to reduce congestion. Keep firmware updated and restrict management access to authorized personnel to maintain network stability and security.
