MEDIA-TECH MT5045 Wireless Bluetooth USB Dongle 5.0 Nano

The MEDIA-TECH MT5045 Wireless Bluetooth USB dongle 5.0 Nano is a compact adapter that adds Bluetooth connectivity to computers with a USB-A port. Its nano form factor remains mostly hidden when plugged into a laptop or desktop, enabling wireless communication with headsets, speakers, keyboards, mice and other Bluetooth peripherals. The adapter supports Bluetooth 5.0 features for improved range and stability compared with earlier versions while maintaining low power consumption and a simple plug-and-play setup on most operating systems.

Advantages

The small, low-profile design minimises protrusion and risk of damage while connected. Bluetooth 5.0 provides enhanced signal range and data throughput relative to legacy Bluetooth standards. The device requires no external power source or large drivers for many modern systems, offering straightforward installation and reliable operation for basic audio streaming, input devices and file transfers. Its universal USB-A interface ensures compatibility with a wide range of laptops and desktops.

Suitable for

• Adding Bluetooth to older PCs or desktops without built-in wireless support
• Connecting Bluetooth headsets and speakers for audio playback and calls
• Pairing keyboards and mice for a wireless workstation setup
• Using wireless game controllers and other low-power peripherals

Key specifications

• Bluetooth standard: Bluetooth 5.0
• Interface: USB-A plug
• Form factor: nano, low-profile USB dongle
• Power consumption: low power design suitable for continuous use
• Supported device types: headsets, speakers, keyboards, mice, controllers and other Bluetooth peripherals
• Typical use range: improved range over older Bluetooth versions (actual range depends on environment and connected devices)

How to use

Insert the USB-A dongle into an available USB port on your computer. Allow the operating system to recognise the device and install any default drivers; on many modern systems this will complete automatically and the adapter will be available for pairing. Open your system Bluetooth settings, enable Bluetooth, and search for new devices. Put the peripheral device into pairing mode and select it from the list to complete pairing. For systems that require drivers, follow the manufacturer's driver installation instructions provided with the device or on the manufacturer's support pages.

Recommendations

Place the connected computer so that the dongle faces an open area without large metal obstructions for best signal performance. For audio and low-latency applications, ensure the peripheral device supports the appropriate audio codec and maintain a clear line of sight where possible. If connection issues occur, check for driver updates, try a different USB port or temporarily remove other nearby wireless transmitters.
