Microconnect MC-SATA3-T4 Interface Cards/Adapters Internal SATA

The Microconnect MC-SATA3-T4 is an internal SATA adapter with a PCI Express host interface that provides two SATA Gen III (6 Gb/s) channels. Designed to bring server-class SATA performance to desktop systems, the adapter maintains backward compatibility with SATA 3 Gb/s and 1.5 Gb/s drives and uses standard SATA cables and connectors for easy integration. It supports PCI Express 2.0 bandwidth improvements and is suitable for increasing data-transfer throughput in a wide range of computers.

Advantages

The adapter delivers up to 6 Gb/s per SATA channel while remaining compatible with older SATA devices. Using a PCIe 2.0 host interface, it allows higher aggregate throughput compared with PCIe 1.0. The card’s compact internal form factor and standard connectors simplify installation in desktop systems. Basic electrical characteristics include a 5 V output and a 0.9 A current rating.

Suitable for

• Upgrading desktop PCs to support SATA III (6 Gb/s) drives
• Systems requiring additional internal SATA ports
• Workstations or home servers that need improved disk throughput
• Compatibility setups mixing SATA I/II and SATA III drives

How to use

Install the adapter into an available PCI Express slot on the motherboard, ensuring the system is powered off and unplugged before installation. Connect SATA drives to the adapter using standard SATA cables and connect power to the drives from the system power supply. After booting, verify that the operating system recognizes the controller and attached drives; install any vendor drivers if required for full functionality.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, install the card in a PCIe x1 or higher slot that supports PCIe 2.0 lanes. Use SATA III certified cables for 6 Gb/s operation and mix drives of different SATA generations only when backward compatibility is necessary. Ensure adequate cooling in systems with multiple high-speed drives.
