Moxa EtherDevice EDS-208 unmanaged switch

The Moxa EtherDevice EDS-208 is an unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch with eight 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports. Designed for reliable operation in industrial environments, the EDS-208 supports IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x standards, auto-sensing MDI/MDIX, and full/half-duplex modes. The compact IP30 metal housing, DIN-rail mounting and wide operating temperature range make it suitable for deployments that require plug-and-play connectivity and rugged performance.

Advantages

The EDS-208 provides simple, maintenance-free network expansion with store-and-forward switching for efficient packet handling and built-in broadcast storm protection. Its 10/100Base-T(X) RJ45 ports offer automatic speed and duplex negotiation, while the robust industrial design — IP30 case, wide operating temperature (-10 to 60°C) and support for 24 VDC/24 VAC power input — ensures reliable operation in harsh conditions. LED indicators simplify status monitoring and the DIN-rail compatible form factor enables easy installation.

Suitable for

• Industrial automation networks
• Factory floor connectivity and machine communication
• Transportation and infrastructure systems requiring rugged switches
• Small to medium Ethernet segments where unmanaged plug-and-play switching is acceptable

How to use

Mount the EDS-208 on a DIN-rail or inside a suitable distribution box and connect the power supply (24 VDC or 24 VAC). Plug Ethernet cables into the RJ45 ports; the switch will automatically detect link speed, duplex and MDI/MDIX settings. Use the front-panel LEDs to verify power and link/activity status. No configuration is required for basic operation—once powered and cabled the switch provides immediate Layer 2 connectivity.

Recommendations

Install the EDS-208 in a ventilated enclosure to maintain the recommended -10 to 60 °C operating range, use recommended industrial-grade power supplies and shielded cabling where electromagnetic interference is present, and regularly monitor LED indicators to detect link or power issues early.
