PCI Express x1 card DeLOCK 89938

The DeLOCK PCI Express x1 Card (model 89938) adds four external RS-232 serial ports to a desktop or mini PC. The card provides optional voltage supply for connected devices (selectable 5 V or 12 V) and connects via a PCIe x1 host interface. It supports baud rates up to 230.4 Kbit/s and includes a 256-byte FIFO buffer. The package includes required serial cables and a low-profile bracket for compact systems.

Advantages

The card offers four external serial RS-232 ports in a single PCIe x1 slot, supports device power output at 5 V or 12 V, and integrates a 256 B FIFO buffer for reliable data flow. Its PCIe host interface ensures compatibility with standard PCI Express slots, and the included low-profile bracket allows installation in small form-factor or mini PCs. Driver support covers Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.

How to use

Install the PCI Express x1 Card into an available PCIe slot on the motherboard (use the included low-profile bracket if installing in a mini PC). Secure the card, connect the external serial cables to the RS-232 ports and to the target devices, and set the required device power output to 5 V or 12 V as needed. Install the appropriate drivers on the host system (Windows 7/8/8.1/10) and configure serial port parameters (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits) in the operating system or application.

Recommendations

For stable communication, match the baud rate and serial settings of connected devices to the card’s configuration, avoid long thin or poorly shielded cables for high-noise environments, and select the appropriate voltage (5 V or 12 V) according to the device specification to prevent damage.
