PLANET WGS-5225-8P2S Managed Switch

PLANET WGS-5225-8P2S is a wall-mount PoE managed switch designed for industrial and space-limited environments. It provides eight 10/100/1000BASE-T ports with up to 36 W PoE per port, two 1000BASE-X SFP slots, IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack management, and a total PoE budget of up to 240 W. Housed in a compact IP30 metal chassis and rated for operation from -40 to 75 °C, the switch supports L2+/L4 Gigabit switching, advanced security and management features, and flexible wall-, magnetic- or DIN-rail mounting for building automation, IoT and IP surveillance applications.

Advantages

The WGS-5225-8P2S integrates advanced PoE management (PD alive check, scheduled power recycling, PoE scheduling and usage monitoring) with L2+/L4 switching capabilities and comprehensive security (ACLs, 802.1x and private VLAN). It supports fast ring recovery (ITU-T G.8032 ERPS) and multiple redundancy mechanisms, offers SFP-DDM diagnostics and Modbus TCP for factory integration, and includes convenient ONVIF device discovery and GUI-controlled PoE reboot. Management is available via Web, console, Telnet and SNMPv3 for secure remote administration.

Suitable for

• IP surveillance systems and PoE IP cameras
• Industrial IoT and building/home automation
• Wireless AP and VoIP deployments requiring PoE and scheduled power control

How to use

Mount the switch on a wall, in an enclosure or on a DIN rail using the supplied mounting options. Connect the DC 48–56 V power sources to the dual power inputs for redundancy. Attach network devices to the RJ-45 PoE ports and fiber links to the SFP slots as required. Configure IP settings and management via the built-in web GUI or console/Telnet, or integrate into existing monitoring via SNMPv3. Use the GUI to discover ONVIF cameras, set PoE schedules, enable PD alive check and configure VLANs, QoS and security policies suited to your network topology.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, connect redundant power sources and enable ring protection (G.8032) or MSTP in ring topologies. Plan PoE budget per port and use PoE scheduling to power off non-essential devices during off-hours. Use SFP-DDM to monitor fiber transceiver status and enable SNMPv3 for secure remote management. For factory environments, enable Modbus TCP to integrate switch telemetry with SCADA/HMI systems.
