Silverstone MS09 SSD Enclosure

The Silverstone MS09 SSD enclosure accepts a single M.2 storage drive with a Serial ATA III (SATA 3.0) interface and connects to a host via USB 3.2 Gen 2 (USB 3.1 Gen 2) Type-A. Constructed from aluminium in a silver finish, it is designed to house SATA M.2 SSDs using the M.2 connector’s SATA (B key) wiring and exposes an AHCI SATA interface to the operating system.

Advantages

The enclosure supports one M.2 SATA SSD and provides a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A connection for up to 10 Gbit/s data transfer. Its aluminium body offers lightweight durability (0.033 kg) and a compact silver design suitable for external storage use. Because it exposes the drive via the AHCI SATA driver, it ensures broad compatibility with operating systems that include SATA/AHCI support.

Suitable for

• Expanding external storage with a single M.2 SATA (Serial ATA III) SSD
• Portable backups and file transfer over USB Type-A
• Use with systems that recognise AHCI/SATA M.2 drives

Key specifications

• Supported drive: 1 × M.2 SATA (Serial ATA III)
• Interface to host: USB 3.2 Gen 2 (USB 3.1 Gen 2) Type-A — up to 10 Gbit/s
• Drive interface exposed: SATA 3.0 (6 Gbit/s) via AHCI over M.2 connector (B key for SATA)
• Material: Aluminium
• Colour: Silver
• Weight: 0.033 kg
• Brand / MPN / EAN: SILVERSTONE / SST-MS09S / 4710007226094

How to use

Open the enclosure, insert a compatible M.2 SATA (B key) SSD into the M.2 slot and secure it according to the enclosure’s mounting method. Close the enclosure, connect it to a host computer using a USB Type-A to enclosure cable, and allow the operating system to recognise the drive via the AHCI/SATA driver. No special drivers are typically required on modern operating systems that support AHCI.

Recommendations

Install only M.2 SSDs that use the SATA interface (B key). PCIe/NVMe M.2 drives using PCI Express lanes (M key) are not supported for optimal performance in this enclosure because it provides SATA/AHCI access.
