Sony RM-GD031 infrared remote control — replacement remote control for compatible Sony devices

Sony RM-GD031 is an infrared wireless remote control designed as a replacement or spare for compatible Sony audio and video devices. It restores basic remote functionality by transmitting infrared signals for common commands such as power, playback, volume and menu navigation. The RM-GD031 is intended for home use to replace a lost or broken original remote or to provide a secondary control option for another room without requiring device-specific programming beyond standard IR codes supported by many Sony models.

Advantages

The remote offers a compact, lightweight design with clearly marked buttons for straightforward operation. It communicates via infrared, which ensures compatibility with a wide range of Sony devices that accept standard IR commands. The control layout groups playback and navigation keys together, supporting intuitive use for everyday tasks such as adjusting volume, controlling playback and navigating on-screen menus. As a replacement remote, it provides a practical and cost‑effective way to restore basic control without repairing the original handset.

Consult the compatible device’s user manual for IR receiver location and any device-specific settings that may affect remote operation.

Recommendations

Keep the remote within a direct line of sight to the device’s IR receiver and replace batteries when response slows. Avoid exposing the remote to moisture or extreme temperatures. Store the original remote code list or device manual if available to help confirm compatibility.
