Staedtler 183-HBKP72 Graphite Pencil Germany

The Staedtler 183-HBKP72 graphite pencil is manufactured in Germany to provide consistent HB-grade performance for everyday writing and sketching. Its HB lead produces medium-dark, reliable lines suitable for notes, drafts and general drawing. The pencil's balanced weight and ergonomic shape support comfortable handling during extended use, while the solid wood casing and secure bonding between wood and lead reduce breakage and improve longevity.

Advantages

The pencil delivers smooth, even strokes with a predictable tone and moderate smudge resistance, making it suitable for both handwriting and technical sketching. Its ergonomic design reduces hand fatigue, and the durable wood construction helps maintain a sharp point longer. Being made in Germany, it conforms to consistent manufacturing standards that emphasise quality and reliability for everyday tasks.

Suitable for

• Schoolwork and note-taking
• Sketching and quick drafts
• Office writing and forms
• Technical drawing and layout marking
• Everyday use at home or on the go

Key specifications

• Lead grade: HB (medium hardness)
• Material: graphite core with wooden casing
• Origin: manufactured in Germany
• Shape: round/hexagonal ergonomic body (as per model)
• Intended use: writing, sketching, drafting

How to use

Hold the pencil in a relaxed grip appropriate for the task—closer to the tip for precision or farther back for looser sketching. Sharpen with a manual or mechanical sharpener suited for wooden pencils to restore a fine point. Use moderate pressure to avoid lead breakage; if a darker tone is required, make additional passes rather than pressing harder. Store in a dry place to prevent wood swelling and maintain performance.

Recommendations

For consistent results, pair the pencil with a quality sharpener and an eraser designed for graphite. When used for technical work, combine with rulers and templates to maintain accuracy; for sketching, use a variety of pencil grades alongside HB to achieve broader tonal range.
