Microconnect MC-SSDSATACONV Interface Cards/Adapters Internal M.2

The Microconnect MC-SSDSATACONV is a 2.5-inch internal adapter that provides a SATA host interface and supports either one M.2 Key B SATA protocol SSD or one mSATA SSD. Compliant with Serial ATA Specification 3.0, the adapter supports transmission speeds up to 6 Gbps and is suitable for use in laptops, desktop computers, mini PCs and other devices requiring a compact internal storage interface. The unit has a black finish and compact dimensions for easy installation in systems with a 2.5-inch drive bay.

Advantages

This adapter enables straightforward integration of M.2 SATA and mSATA drives into systems with a standard SATA host connection. It is backward- and forward-compatible with SATA 3.0 signaling, supports data transfer rates up to 6 Gbps, and is compact and lightweight (approximately 90 g), making it easy to install inside laptops, desktops or small-form-factor computers.

Suitable for

• Upgrading or replacing storage in laptops
• Installing M.2 SATA or mSATA drives in desktop PCs
• Adding internal storage to mini PCs and HTPCs
• System builders and technicians integrating SATA-based SSDs

• Supported drives: One M.2 Key B SATA protocol SSD or one mSATA SSD
• Maximum transfer rate: Up to 6 Gbps
• Form factor: 2.5-inch internal adapter
• Product colour: Black
• Weight: 0.09 kg

How to use

Install the adapter into a 2.5-inch drive bay or secure it inside the system chassis, connect the host SATA cable to the adapter's SATA interface, and mount an M.2 Key B SATA SSD or an mSATA SSD into the adapter according to the drive mounting points. Ensure the SATA power connector from the power supply is attached and verify connections before powering on the system. After boot, confirm that the operating system recognises the installed drive and perform any required partitioning or formatting.

Recommendations

Use compatible M.2 SATA (Key B) or mSATA SSDs with this adapter; do not attempt to connect NVMe (PCIe) M.2 drives as they use a different protocol. Ensure secure mounting and proper SATA power and data connections to avoid data loss. For optimal performance, connect to a SATA III (6 Gbps) host port.
