Tether Tools CU1917 USB Cable 5m Orange

The Tether Tools USB Cable CU1917 is a 5 m (16 ft) orange active USB 2.0 A-to-A extension designed for reliable tethered connections. Built to high USB specifications, this active extension buffers signals to maintain consistent data transfer quality over longer distances and can be daisy-chained with additional active extensions to extend reach.

Advantages

This active USB 2.0 extension provides reliable, buffered signal transmission to reduce errors and corrupted transfers when tethering cameras or other devices. The bright orange jacket improves visibility on busy sets, and construction to USB electrical and timing specifications ensures consistent conductivity and dependable performance for photography and videography workflows.

Key specifications

• Connector type: USB A (male) to USB A (female) active extension
• USB standard: USB 2.0
• Cable length: 5 m (16 ft)
• Cable colour: Orange
• Active repeater circuitry for buffered signal transmission
• Supports daisy-chaining of active extensions (up to four active extensions plus one passive 4.6 m cable for total recommended run up to 24 m)

How to use

Plug the male USB A end of the 5 m active extension into your computer, then connect your camera or other device’s USB cable into the female end of the extension so the repeater circuitry sits closest to the device. For longer distances add additional 5 m active extension cables in sequence, ensuring that repeaters are placed near devices rather than the host computer. Consult your equipment manufacturer’s specifications to confirm correct cable types and connections for your devices.

Recommendations

For best results, do not rely on passive USB cables longer than 5 m for data transfer. You may daisy-chain up to four active extensions and one passive 4.6 m cable for a recommended maximum run of 24 m (80 ft) before signal degradation. Consider using cable retention devices such as JerkStopper accessories for strain relief and improved cable management.
