Variable ND filter system Freewell FW-82-MAGVND 82mm Magnetic

Freewell Variable ND 82mm Magnetic Filter Set provides a modular magnetic system for controlling light and creative effects. The set combines variable neutral density filters (VND2-5, VND6-9), mist variants and a circular polarizer (CPL), all built on high-resolution optical glass with multi-layer coatings and a solid magnetic construction. Included are a magnetic mounting ring, protective case and accessories that allow quick swapping of filters and reliable operation in the field.

Advantages

The magnetic design enables fast, tool-free filter changes and compatibility with other Freewell magnetic elements. High-resolution glass with an 18-layer coating preserves image clarity while the extended variable range from 2 to 9 stops gives precise control of exposure. The kit groups CPL, glow mist and multiple VND/MIST combinations in a single system, reducing the need to carry separate filters and simplifying workflow.

How to use

Attach the included magnetic ring to your lens thread size using the appropriate adapter. Magnetically mount the VND base or other filter elements and rotate the VND filter to select the desired attenuation (VND2–5 or VND6–9). Use the CPL to reduce reflections and enhance color saturation, or choose a MIST/GLOW filter variant to add a soft fog effect. Combine filters as needed; the magnetic quick-change system lets you swap elements rapidly without tools.

Recommendations

Use the VND filters when you need controlled reductions in light for longer exposures or wider apertures. Apply the CPL outdoors to manage glare on water and glass surfaces. Choose MIST or GLOW filters for portrait or cinematic looks where softer highlights are desired. Store filters in the protective case and clean optical surfaces with the supplied microfiber cloth.
