Camera lens Panasonic H-ES045E

The Panasonic H-ES045E (LEICA DG MACRO-ELMARIT 45mm / F2.8 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S.) is a compact Micro Four Thirds macro lens designed to deliver high image quality with minimal distortion, chromatic aberration, ghosting and flare. The optical construction of 14 elements in 10 groups includes aspherical and ED glass to ensure sharpness and controlled aberrations while keeping the lens small. MEGA O.I.S. optical image stabilization reduces blur from camera shake, supporting handheld macro shooting and low-light use without a tripod.

Advantages

The lens combines Leica optical standards with Panasonic stabilization and a 14/10 element-group design to achieve excellent resolution and contrast across the frame. An inner-focus direct-drive linear motor with a three-group floating structure maintains focus performance from life-size magnification to infinity without changing the lens length, while a stepping motor ensures smooth, quiet AF for stills and video. A focus-range switch lets you instantly select close focus at 0.15 m or a longer limit at 0.50 m. A metal mount and multi-coated elements minimize ghosts and flare and increase durability.

Suitable for

• Close-up and macro photography of small subjects (insects, flowers, product details)
• Handheld shooting in dim light where stabilization is needed
• Portraits and detail shots requiring high sharpness and low distortion

Key specifications

• Focal length: 45 mm (Micro Four Thirds standard)
• Maximum aperture: f/2.8
• Aperture blades: 7 (rounded)
• Closest focusing distance: 0.15 m
• Maximum magnification: 1.0× (life-size)
• Lens structure: 14 elements in 10 groups
• Filter thread: 46 mm
• Dimensions (approx.): diameter 63 mm × length 62.5 mm
• Weight: 0.225 kg

How to use

Attach the lens to a Micro Four Thirds camera body and enable the camera’s contrast-detection AF (face detection supported) for accurate focusing. Use the focus-range switch on the barrel to choose the 0.15 m setting for life-size macro work or the 0.50 m setting for subjects at longer close distances. For video and quiet focusing, use the camera’s AF mode that benefits from the lens’s stepping motor. When shooting handheld in low light, keep MEGA O.I.S. enabled to reduce motion blur.

Recommendations

For best results in macro work, use a steady hand or a small support and select the shorter focus range to achieve 1:1 magnification. Stop down gradually to increase depth of field when capturing fine detail, and clean the multi-coated elements with a microfiber cloth to preserve contrast and minimize flare.
