EFB Elektronik EK131.2 Beige 2m D-Sub 9 Serial Cable

The EFB Elektronik EK131.2 Beige 2m D-Sub 9 is a 2‑metre serial cable designed for point‑to‑point data connections using a D‑Sub 9 (DE‑9) connector. It provides a straightforward wired link for devices that support standard RS‑232 serial communication, combining a neutral beige jacket with a flexible length suitable for desktop or rack installations. The cable construction focuses on reliable signal transfer over typical serial distances and uncomplicated integration into existing setups.

Advantages

This serial cable offers dependable electrical contact through a fixed D‑Sub 9 interface and a length that balances reach with minimal signal degradation for short to medium runs. The neutral beige color helps the cable blend into office environments and legacy equipment racks. The simple, single‑purpose design makes it easy to install and maintain without additional configuration.

Suitable for

• Connecting PCs, industrial controllers or legacy equipment with RS‑232 serial ports
• Point‑to‑point data transfer between instruments and measurement devices
• Serial console access for networking equipment, routers or switches that use D‑Sub 9
• Temporary or permanent cabling in office, lab, or workshop environments

Key specifications

• Cable type: serial cable with D‑Sub 9 connector
• Connector: D‑Sub 9 (DE‑9) male/female configurations depending on device
• Length: 2 metres
• Color: beige
• Typical use: RS‑232 serial communication

How to use

Identify the serial ports on both devices and connect the D‑Sub 9 connectors, ensuring correct orientation before tightening any captive screws if present. Use the 2 m length to position devices with some separation while keeping the cable free from sharp bends or kinks. After physical connection, verify serial port settings (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits) in the communicating devices or terminal software to match the requirements of the connected equipment. No special drivers are required for the cable itself.

Recommendations

For best signal reliability, avoid routing the cable parallel to high‑voltage or high‑current power lines and keep overall cable length within recommended limits for RS‑232 links. Secure connections with the connector screws where available and inspect the cable periodically for wear or damage in environments with mechanical stress.
