Extralink SC/APC Duplex Adapter, Singlemode, Green

Extralink SC/APC Duplex Adapter, Single-mode, Green is a precision component designed to align and couple two single-mode optical fibers using SC/APC mating interfaces. The adapter features a green housing to indicate APC polarity and provides two SC/APC ports in a duplex configuration suitable for fiber patch panels, distribution boxes and inline joins in telecom and data network installations. Uncoated connector contacts ensure direct ferrule-to-ferrule contact for single-mode transmission.

Advantages

The adapter offers accurate fiber alignment and low insertion loss due to precise internal sleeve tolerances. Its duplex format allows pairing of transmit and receive fibers in a single module, saving panel space and simplifying cable management. The green colour coding provides immediate visual identification for APC interfaces, reducing the risk of mismatched connector types during installation and maintenance.

Suitable for

• Single-mode fiber patch panels in telecom rooms and data centers
• Distribution boxes and wall-mounted enclosures
• Inline fiber joins and temporary repair connections
• Splice-closure interfaces requiring SC/APC connectors

Key specifications

• Connector type: SC/APC duplex
• Fiber type: single-mode
• Housing colour: green (APC identification)
• Configuration: duplex (two mating ports)
• Contact finish: uncoated ferrule contact

How to use

Install the Extralink SC/APC duplex adapter into the appropriate cutout of a patch panel or distribution box, ensuring the adapter snaps or secures according to the enclosure design. Insert SC/APC connectors from patchcords or pigtails into each adapter port until they click into place, making sure the angled-polished faces are aligned and not forced. For inline joins, mount the adapter in a compatible panel or holder and connect the two SC/APC terminated fibers to complete the optical path.

Recommendations

Keep connector end-faces clean and protected with dust caps before mating. Use appropriate cleaning tools for APC ferrules and verify low insertion loss with an optical power meter after installation. Avoid excessive bending or strain on attached fiber cables, and choose the green APC adapter specifically when mating with angled-polish SC/APC connectors to maintain return loss performance.
