Extralink SC/UPC Multimode Duplex Fibre Optic Adapter, Socket–Socket, Grey

Extralink SC/UPC multimode duplex adapter is a female-to-female fiber optic coupling designed to connect or extend multimode SC/UPC connectors in patch panels, wall plates and equipment links. Housed in a duplex grey body, the adapter provides physical alignment and a stable mechanical join between two SC/UPC multimode connectors for data and network cabling applications.

Advantages

The adapter offers precise ceramic alignment sleeves for reliable connection repeatability and low insertion loss in multimode links. Its duplex housing ensures organized dual-channel coupling in a single unit, reducing panel space and simplifying cabling. The grey colour identifies it for multimode use and helps maintain consistent network wiring standards.

Suitable for

• Patch panels and fiber distribution frames
• Wall plates and in‑room fiber outlets
• Joining or extending multimode SC/UPC patchcords
• Local area networks (LAN) and premises cabling
• CATV distribution and telecommunication links

Key specifications

• Connector type: SC/UPC female to SC/UPC female (duplex)
• Mode: Multimode
• Housing: Duplex grey body for two-channel coupling
• Alignment sleeve: Ceramic sleeve for stable fiber alignment
• Typical application: Optical patching and extensions within network infrastructure

How to use

Insert one SC/UPC multimode connector into each side of the adapter until it clicks or seats fully, ensuring clean connector endfaces before mating to avoid contamination and signal loss. Use the adapter to couple two patchcords or to secure a patchcord to a panel-mounted connector; confirm proper seating visually and by testing link continuity or optical loss as required.

Recommendations

Clean connector endfaces with approved fiber cleaning tools before connection, avoid excessive lateral force when mating, and protect unused ports with dust caps. For best performance in multimode networks, verify connector type and mode compatibility and perform optical loss testing after installation.
