Features + Benefits
All-in-One Creative Solution
The HERO13 Black Creator Edition combines our best camera with the pro-grade mounts and accessories you need to tell your story right out of the box. It includes the Volta (Battery Grip / Tripod / Remote), Media Mod and Light Mod that seamlessly come together in a lightweight design that’s comfortable enough to carry through an all-day production.
Best-in-Class 5.3K Video
5.3K video delivers breathtaking image quality with 91% more resolution than 4K and an incredible 665% more than 1080p. HERO13 Black captures the action with crisp detail and exacting image quality so any shot with any lens will look amazing. 5.3K video also lets you grab stunning photos up to 24.7MP from your footage using the GoPro Quik app.
Rugged + Waterproof to 33ft (10m)
HERO13 Black was built to take a beating. It’s ready to capture the fun on any adventure whether you’re tearing through mud, snow or water (down to 33ft/10m). A water-repelling lens cover even helps eliminate lens flare and other artifacts to help keep your photos and videos crystal clear.
Award-Winning HyperSmooth 6.0 Stabilization
HyperSmooth 6.0 continues to set the bar for in-camera video stabilization—giving you impossibly smooth footage no matter how rough it gets. HyperSmooth AutoBoost ensures that you’re getting the widest stabilized footage possible by seamlessly adjusting the shot based on your speed and movement.
Built-In 360° Horizon Lock
HERO13 Black’s Linear + Horizon Lock digital lens keeps the horizon steady, straight and smooth even if your camera rotates a full 360° during capture (4). Combined with HyperSmooth video stabilization, Horizon Lock gives your footage the super smooth look of professional productions.
All-Day Capture + Upgraded Enduro Battery
The HERO13 Black Creator Edition combines HERO13 Black’s Enduro battery with the power of the Volta grip to give you a total of 6800 mAh of power. That’s over 5 hours of continuous of 4K recording or over 4.5 hours of 5.3K30 recording (1) (our highest resolution)—enough to capture a full day of video clips. The upgraded Enduro also dramatically improves cold weather performance so you can power through ski, snowboard and other winter shots.
Extended Runtimes in All Conditions
Spend more time recording and less time charging. A higher-capacity 1900mAh Enduro battery gives you longer runtimes in all conditions, from hot to freezing and everything in between. You’ll get 1.5 hours of continuous recording at 4K30 or 5.3K30, plus over 2.5 hours of continuous recording at 1080p30 (6).
1-Handed Control + Remote
Integrated camera buttons on the grip give you easy one-handed control of your camera: power on and off, start and stop capture, and switching modes. You can even detach the camera from the grip and use the grip as a wireless remote to control your camera from up to 98ft (30m) away (7).
Easily Expandable
The Media Mod gives you the option of expanding your HERO13 Black Creator Edition with additional gear to help you capture your story. It features a standard 3.5mm mic port for adding your own external mic and HDMI-out for playback on external monitors, plus two cold-shoe mounts for lights, LCD screens or other accessories.
Powerful LED Lighting
The HERO13 Black Creator Edition’s Light Mod lets you brighten the action and illuminate your next adventure with wide, even light. It features four levels of brightness (up to 200 lumens) plus Overdrive and strobe modes, and also works as a handy standalone light that can be used with GoPro mounts.
Built-In Tripod
In addition to making it easy to hold and aim your camera, the HERO13 Black Creator Edition’s Volta grip has built-in tripod legs that easily flip out any time you need to set it down to capture stationary and hands-free shots. Swivel mounting fingers even let you rotate and tilt the camera to find just the right capture angle.
More Mounting Flexibility
The included Magnetic Latch Mount makes it faster and easier to attach and detach your GoPro from the Volta grip. Magnets guide your camera into position so all you have to do is snap it in place. This is especially convenient when you want to switch your camera to another mount. The grip’s retractable mounting fingers make it easy to attach your Creator Edition to GoPro backpack straps to capture a first-person view of your journeys. It can also be used with other GoPro mounts and includes 1/4-20 mounting threads for use with tripods and other standard camera accessories.
HLG-HDR Video
HERO13 Black takes its best-in-class image quality to the next level with the option to record in Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), a standard HDR format that the pros use to capture 5.3K and 4K video in the 10-bit and Rec. 2100 color space. This advanced feature requires a compatible display and media player for playback. Users can still capture video using HDR without HLG for viewing on standard displays and media players.
Widescreen, Vertical + Full Screen Capture
The HERO13 Black Creator Edition’s powerful 1/1.9” image sensor lets you do more. Choose widescreen capture (16:9 aspect ratio) for full-screen playback on a TV or vertical videos (9:16 aspect ratio) for social media posting. For maximum versatility, the full-frame option (8:7 aspect ratio) captures a 156° field of view that lets you crop in to create widescreen and vertical shots later.
10-Bit Color + Log Encoding
The HERO13 Black Creator Edition lets you choose between capturing standard video at 10-bit or Log encoding at 10-bit with GP-Log. Capable of displaying over 1 billion colors, 10-bit color delivers enhanced color depth, smoother gradations and more realism in your videos. Advanced users can use GP-Log to get more detail in their footage while making necessary image corrections in post-production (a lookup table/LUT is provided).
Timecode Sync
Advanced users with more than one GoPro can sync them with the exact same timecode to make multi-camera editing a lot easier. It works with Final Cut Pro®, Adobe® Premiere® and other editing software to further streamline post-production.
27MP Photos + 24.7MP Frame Grabs
The HERO13 Black Creator Edition takes 27MP Single, Interval, Burst and Night photos that let you capture standard, fast-action and low-light shots with the press of the shutter button. You can also grab stunning photos up to 24.7MP of your favorite shots from your videos using the GoPro Quik app.
Bluetooth Audio Connectivity
Bluetooth audio lets you wirelessly connect to compatible devices. Use a wireless microphone for enhanced audio when narrating a scene or conducting interviews. By connecting to your wireless earbuds, your GoPro will be able to hear your voice commands in noisy settings or when it’s mounted out of earshot. You’ll also be able to hear camera alerts through your earbuds to confirm that it got the command and is doing what you want.
Enhanced Audio Capture
The HERO13 Black Creator Edition’s Media Mod features a standard 3.5mm mic port that lets you plug in a wired mic. It also has a built-in directional mic for improved voice recording. Set the mic to prioritize audio coming from in front of the camera to capture interviews and performances, behind the camera to add your commentary to everything happening in front of you, or set it to treat front and rear audio equally. It also includes a removable foam mic cover that suppresses wind gusts up to 20 mph (32 kph).
Audio Tuning
Audio Tuning lets you adjust sound recording to better fit what you’re capturing. Choose balanced true-to-life sound that’s great for most shots or the Voice setting that enhances vocal clarity while also preserving ambient background sounds.
Quicker QuikCapture
QuikCapture is the fastest and easiest way to power up and start recording. All it takes is a press of the shutter button. Now you can also set your camera to idle without completely powering down. This lets you start recording again even faster. It’s the perfect way to stay flexible and ready to record during active shoots.
GPS + Performance Stickers
GPS automatically captures telemetry data that can be overlaid as animated graphics in your video using the GoPro Quik app. It’s a visual way to show off your speed, path, terrain, altitude and g-forces while giving your videos an intense professional vibe.
Front + Rear LCD Screens
Frame your shots perfectly with either the front or rear LCD screen. Use the large rear touch screen to capture the scene in front of you, or turn your camera around and use the front screen for vlogging and perfectly framed selfies.
More Preset Options
Create presets of your go-to settings—resolutions, frame rates, lenses and more—for all of your favorite activities and conveniently switch them up in just a few taps. You can personalize them with custom names right on the camera or with the GoPro Quik app.
Highlight Videos Automatically Sent to Your Phone (5)
Simply plug in your GoPro when connected to your home Wi-Fi. While it’s charging, your footage is automatically uploaded to the cloud and used to make a highlight video complete with beat-synced music and effects. Videos are automatically sent to your phone and ready to share.
Easy Editing With the GoPro Quik App
The GoPro Quik app is loaded with easy-to-use tools that let you edit your footage like a pro. You can tweak the automatic highlight videos created by the app or make your own videos from scratch. You also have the flexibility to change digital lenses after recording and zoom in on the best sections of your footage to create high-resolution punchouts that focus on the action while cropping out the rest.
Faster Transferring + Unlimited Cloud Backup (5)
Transferring content from your camera to your phone is simpler and faster than ever. HERO13 Black uses the Wi-Fi 6 technology for faster, more reliable offloads to your phone and the cloud. You can also choose a lightning-fast wired connection via USB6 or use your SD card to transfer your content to a computer. There’s also unlimited cloud storage with hassle-free auto-upload.5 Just plug in your camera when connected to your home Wi-Fi and the camera does the rest.
Night Effects Video + Photos
HERO13 Black features 3 time lapse and photo modes that let you get creative after dark. Star Trails uses the Earth’s rotation and stars to capture beautiful light trails across the night sky. Light Painting lets you create brilliant brush stroke effects with moving light. Vehicle Light Trails uses night-time traffic to record stunning light trail shots.
Power Tools
Nail any shot with in-camera Power Tools. HindSight captures up to 30 seconds of footage before you start recording—even if you press the shutter too late, you’ll still get the shot. With Scheduled Capture, you can set your GoPro to turn itself on and get a shot up to 24 hours in advance. Duration Capture makes it easy to capture video clips from 15 seconds to 3 hours long. Interval Photo snaps photos at fixed intervals while you stay focused on your favorite activities.
Easy or Pro Controls
Choose point-and-shoot simplicity or full camera control. With Easy Controls, just frame your shot and hit the Shutter button for amazing results. The Pro Controls unlock the ability to fine-tune all modes, settings and features.
Built Around the Durable + Waterproof HERO13 Black
At the core of the HERO13 Black Creator Edition is HERO13 Black—the world’s most versatile camera. Used on its own, HERO13 Black gives you amazing image quality, plus the legendary toughness that can take a beating whether you’re ripping through mud, snow or water (to depths of 33ft/10m) (7). You can also use HERO13 Black with GoPro mounts to capture unique-one-of-a-kind perspectives and a huge variety of body-, helmet- and gear-mounted shots.
