Inter-Tech 4U 40248 Rack Server Case Black, Grey

The Inter-Tech 4U 40248 Rack Server Case is a steel enclosure in grey and black designed for rack-mounted server installations. It accepts multiple drive sizes and standard motherboard form factors, and comes fitted with front and rear fans to provide active airflow. With dimensions of 485 mm width, 525 mm depth and 177.8 mm height, the chassis is built to fit 4U rack spaces while accommodating up to eleven 3.5" drives and four 2.5" drives alongside three 5.25" bays for optical or accessory devices.

Advantages

The case offers a sturdy steel construction for long-term durability and stability in server racks. Integrated cooling includes two front 120 mm fans and two rear 80 mm fans to manage internal temperatures under load. Multiple drive bays and compatibility with SSI CEB, ATX, Micro ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards provide flexibility for different storage and system configurations. Front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports enable faster data access for maintenance and external devices.

How to use

Install the chosen motherboard into the tray according to the supported form factors and secure it with appropriate standoffs. Mount storage devices in the 3.5" or 2.5" bays using the provided screws or drive sleds, and connect power and data cables to the drives and motherboard. Fit any required 5.25" devices into the front bays. Install a compatible power supply into the designated compartment and connect all power cables. Route cables to maintain airflow, then connect front-panel USB ports and system power to the rack infrastructure. After assembly, verify fan operation and perform an initial power-up test to confirm cooling and device recognition.

Recommendations

Place the case in a rack with sufficient front-to-rear clearance for airflow and ensure the installed power supply matches the system power requirements. Use hot-swap or vibration-damping drive trays where appropriate for frequent drive access, and periodically inspect and clean fans and air pathways to maintain cooling efficiency.
