Navilock 20655 Cable Lock Silver 1.8 m

The Navilock 20655 Silver 1.8 m cable lock is a key-operated security accessory designed to protect laptops and other portable devices with a compatible security slot. The steel cable is covered in a silver finish and measures 1.8 m in length with a 4.5 mm diameter, providing a balance of flexibility and resistance. The locking head and key mechanism are housed in durable plastic and steel components and the product is supplied as a single unit in boxed packaging.

Advantages

This cable lock combines a long 1.8 m steel cable with a compact key lock mechanism to allow secure tethering of a notebook to fixed furniture or fixtures. The 4.5 mm diameter cable offers improved cut resistance compared with thinner security cables while remaining easy to route and store. The key-operated cylinder provides straightforward operation and clear physical assurance that the device is secured. The silver finish helps the cable blend with most device colours and work environments.

Suitable for

• Securing laptops and notebooks equipped with a standard Kensington-style security slot
• Protecting docking stations, monitors or small office equipment with a lock slot
• Temporary security for devices in public or shared workspaces
• Retail displays or exhibition booths where devices must remain accessible but protected

How to use

Insert the lock head into the device's security slot, loop the cable around a fixed, immovable object and close the lock by turning the key until it clicks. Remove the key and keep it in a secure place. To unlock, insert the key and turn to release the locking mechanism, then withdraw the lock head from the slot. Ensure the anchor point is stable and the cable does not create a tripping hazard when in use.

Recommendations

For effective protection, use the cable lock with a fixed anchor point such as a heavy desk leg or immovable fixture and store the key separately from the secured device. Regularly inspect the cable and lock for signs of wear or damage and replace the lock if corrosion or compromise is visible. Note that cable locks deter opportunistic theft but do not make devices entirely theft-proof; combine with administrative controls and physical security measures for improved protection.
