Reiner SCT 2708015-000 Hardware Authenticator

The Reiner SCT 2708015-000 hardware authenticator is a compact device designed for secure authentication and access control. Its small footprint and lightweight construction make it convenient for desktop use or transport between workstations. The authenticator implements multiple hash algorithms (SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512) to support a range of authentication schemes and secure generation or verification of authentication data. The unit is powered by AAA batteries and has an expected service life of approximately five years under normal operating conditions.

Advantages

The device combines compact dimensions and low weight with multi-algorithm cryptographic support, enabling compatibility with systems that require SHA-1, SHA-256, or SHA-512. The physical design offers straightforward placement on a desk or in a workspace, and the battery operation avoids the need for constant wired power. Its five-year lifespan provides predictable replacement planning for IT asset management.

Suitable for

• Secure login and two-factor authentication in office environments
• Authentication for banking or financial applications that support hardware tokens
• Access control for corporate systems and VPNs
• Portable authentication where a compact, battery-powered token is required

How to use

Insert a fresh AAA battery following the device markings and power guidelines. Connect or pair the authenticator to the target system according to the vendor or IT administrator instructions—this may involve USB connection, a cradle, or other interface supported by the deployment environment. Register the device with the authentication service or application by following the service-specific enrollment procedure. Use the authenticator as required for challenge-response operations or token generation during login sequences.

Recommendations

Store spare AAA batteries and replace them promptly when low battery indicators appear. Keep the authenticator in a dry, dust-free environment and avoid exposure to extreme temperatures. For secure handling, follow your organisation's policies for token issuance, storage and destruction at end of life.
