Steinel Twilight Sensor Switch 230 V Model 066116 Anthracite

Steinel dusk/dawn sensor switch 230 V model 066116 anthracite is a compact light sensor designed to control lighting automatically by measuring ambient brightness. Housed in an anthracite casing, this 230 V twilight switch monitors natural light and closes or opens circuits at defined light levels to activate outdoor or indoor luminaires at dusk and switch them off again at dawn. The device is intended for fixed installation where automatic light management increases convenience and reduces energy consumption.

Advantages

The sensor provides reliable automatic switching based on ambient light without continuous manual intervention, reducing running time of lighting and associated energy use. Its 230 V compatibility allows direct connection to standard mains supplies, and the anthracite housing offers discreet visual integration in a range of environments. The design supports installation either outdoors or indoors close to luminaires, enabling consistent control of lighting according to natural daylight changes.

Suitable for

• Automatic control of outdoor security and façade lighting
• Garden and pathway lighting switched at dusk and off at dawn
• Indoor communal areas or stairwells requiring dusk-to-dawn control
• Lighting of garages, carports and entrances where hands-free operation is needed

Key specifications

• Supply voltage: 230 V AC
• Function: twilight switching based on ambient light level
• Housing colour: anthracite
• Mounting: fixed installation (suitable for indoor and outdoor placement as specified by installation rules)
• Switching behaviour: automatic on at lower light levels (dusk) and off at higher light levels (dawn)

How to use

Install the sensor switch according to local wiring regulations, ensuring power is isolated before connecting. Mount the device where it has an unobstructed view of ambient light and is protected from direct artificial light sources that could affect switching thresholds. Connect the 230 V mains and load as indicated in the product documentation, set the desired twilight threshold if the unit provides an adjustment, and restore power. The switch will then operate automatically, closing the circuit at dusk and opening it at dawn based on measured illumination.

Recommendations

Position the sensor to avoid direct exposure to nearby lamps or reflective surfaces to prevent false triggering. For outdoor installations, ensure the mounting location complies with IP and safety requirements and follow any manufacturer guidance on sealing and weather protection. Regularly check connections and the housing condition as part of routine maintenance to maintain reliable dusk/dawn switching.
